About and methodology
Agent Skills Index is a free, searchable index of skills and plugins for AI coding agents. It is built by an automated BranoLabs pipeline from public GitHub repositories only. Nothing is written by hand: names, descriptions, authors, licenses and versions are copied from each catalog's own files, and missing values stay empty instead of being guessed. Last sync: 2026-10-19, 1011 entries.

Fields
- Description, author, license, version: verbatim from the marketplace entry, plugin manifest or SKILL.md front matter. If a plugin states no license, we show the GitHub repository license and label it as such.
- Repo stars: GitHub stars of the repository that hosts the plugin or skill, read from the GitHub API at sync time. For catalogs that keep everything in one repo (Anthropic, K-Dense, awesome-copilot, in-repo Claude/Codex plugins) this is the whole catalog's star count, not a per-skill popularity score.
- Added: for the Claude Code and Codex marketplaces, the first commit in which the plugin name appears in the marketplace file; for Anthropic skills, the commit that created the SKILL.md. Entries already present when the file's history starts are shown as "on or before" that date and are left out of "New". Not tracked for K-Dense and awesome-copilot.
- What it contains: counted from the plugin folder (skills/*/SKILL.md, commands/*.md, agents/, hooks, .mcp.json, .app.json, LSP servers) when the plugin lives inside the catalog repo. Plugins hosted in external repos are not counted.
- Category: our own grouping into 9 buckets so you can browse across catalogs. When a catalog has its own category we map it directly; otherwise (most skills) we assign one by keyword matching on the name and description, so some skills will be in a debatable bucket. The catalog's own category is shown on each page.
- Install commands: the documented commands for each host:

What we do not do
- We do not test, audit or rank plugins and skills, and a listing is not a recommendation. Anthropic's directory README and GitHub's gh skill announcement both warn that third-party plugins and skills are not verified and can contain malicious instructions or code. Read the source first.
- We do not publish install counts, ratings or reviews, because the catalogs do not expose them.
- Skipped for now: the awesome-copilot plugins folder, Anthropic's community marketplace and other third-party marketplaces. Suggestions are welcome via the bug link in the footer.
Updates
The sync script (npm run build-data) re-reads every catalog, then the site is rebuilt. The JSON is at /api/skills.json and a plain-text summary for AI assistants at /llms.txt.
